During an interview with Dear Media’s “The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast”, Scarlett Johansson revealed that she doesn’t use social media because she feels too fragile to handle it. The star of “Black Widow” admitted that her ego is too delicate to deal with the negativity that can arise from social media usage. She stated that she once tried using Instagram for three days, but quickly realized that it wasn’t for her after spending 20 minutes looking at the profile of someone who worked for a friend of hers. Johansson explained that she felt like she was going down a rabbit hole and wasted 17 minutes of her time.
During an episode of The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast, Scarlett Johansson confessed that she avoids using social media because her ego is too delicate. Nonetheless, the actress revealed that she still receives some form of social media engagement through her skincare company’s account.
Johansson and Kate Foster co-founded The Outset, which showcases videos produced by them. Johansson playfully referred to the videos as “terrible”. She admitted to getting engrossed in the videos whenever she sees them in the office, feeling like a child with their mom’s phone. The actress finds it entertaining nonetheless.

While her business, The Outset, celebrated its one-year anniversary in March, Johansson stated that she is aware that she cannot have social media apps on her phone for personal use. The actress occasionally makes appearances on her skincare line’s TikTok account to read and perform reviews, but she does not browse the video-sharing platform during her free time.
The recipient of a Tony award, who has a daughter named Rose, 8, with her ex-husband Romain Dauriac and a son named Cosmo, 1, with her current spouse Colin Jost, has previously explained her decision to not use social media. She stated in an interview with Interview magazine in 2011 that she didn’t feel the necessity to promote herself in that way.
Johansson, who tied the knot with Colin Jost in 2020, revealed that she feels like a child playing with their mom’s phone when she logs into her company’s social media profiles.
